COMPLIANCE OFFICER- CAIRNS AREA

We are seeking an enthusiastic and pro-active candidate who is based in the Cairns area of North Queensland to take on the role of Compliance Officer. Compliance Officers are out in the field registering actual use of music at specified venues at specified times.

Core hours: 4 hours a month - Friday or Saturday night from 10:00pm – 2:00am. 

This role is situated within the General Licensing Department reporting to the National Account Administration Manager (based in Sydney).    

Key duties and responsibilities include:

  • Verify music usage at nominated locations within Cairns

  •  Report venue information of music usage and to collect attendance figures which substantiate the licence fees and also to report use of music in new businesses.

  • Scope new business by location

    Skills and Experience:

  • General knowledge of music industry and local venues 

  • Country travel required occasionally

  • Current driver’s licence and car essential

SCHEME AND PROJECT DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST - REVENUE GROUP

We are seeking an organised, capable and highly motivated candidate to join our Revenue Group in a role that primarily concentrates on developing new licence schemes (including those associated with OneMusic). The role will also participate in the development of projects for the Revenue Group by providing research, analytical, administrative and management support as necessary. Previous experience in managing clients will be considered an advantage.

The successful candidate will work closely with, and report to, the Divisional Head, Revenue Group.  As such, the role calls for someone who:

  • Is highly organised in their working day;

  • Accomplished in report writing, researching and reviewing tariffs; and

  • Can follow guidelines and procedures when formulating new schemes and tariff reviews.

This role is critical to serving the three licensing departments in ensuring APRA AMCOS conducts appropriate consultation processes according to the Copyright Society Code of Conduct and that any new schemes are released to the market in a timely fashion.

Responsibilities of the role include:

  • Providing the Revenue Group with research and analysis on relevant material to develop or review licence schemes and to provide options and recommendations as relevant;

  • Drafting reports, consultation papers, briefings and other documents to groups including management, APRA and AMCOS Boards and external stakeholders;

  • Coordinating the consultation process and identifying relevant stakeholders as required;

  • Liaising with the licensing departments, legal and communications to coordinate drafting and publication of schemes;

  • Assisting with the development of online versions of schemes for eCommerce;

  • Involvement in negotiation on new schemes with clients or associations as directed; and

  • Supporting OneMusic Australia in the development and ongoing review of joint licence schemes.

The applicant must meet the following criteria:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;

  • Demonstrated work history in the areas of research, writing and preparation of reports;

  • Confident in their ability to analyse complex issues and evaluate competing arguments;

  • Familiarity and competence in Microsoft Office Suite; and

  • Knowledge and understanding of copyright.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor degree or equivalent in Business Studies, Finance, Accounting or Marketing from an accredited institution

TWO POSITIONS VACANT: UNREGISTERED WORKS OFFICER - PUBLISHER RELATIONS & REPERTOIRE

The Unregistered Works team processes works reported for performing and mechanical usage for which publisher registrations have not been supplied. The role is responsible for adding/amending Divisions of Fee (DOFs) in order to maximise the distribution of royalties by APRA and AMCOS.

These are both entry level roles involving the identification of musical works as well as adding and maintaining ownership details for those works in order to allow the payment of royalties, whilst also ensuring database integrity.

Applicants for these roles should have a keen interest in, and a good knowledge of, music across a range of genres.  Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills will be highly regarded. 

Experience using a variety of research tools to find information and a demonstrated ability to assess the accuracy and validity of that information will be an advantage.

Responsibilities of the role include:

  • Add and amend DOFs for works without registrations which have been reported for performing and mechanical usage
  • Assist with adding/amending DOFs for works with registrations which are reported for performing and mechanical usage as required
  • Assist with the maintenance of accurate and up-to-date records in CMS (including identification and resolution of duplicate works, maintenance of right holder/performer/other records)
  • Assist with the processing of AREV error reports and other Unregistered Works tasks as necessary
  • Assist with the completion of spreadsheets with figures relating to tasks processed for the purpose of enabling the monitoring of trends and patterns in the team’s workload
  • General clerical and administrative duties as required

The applicant must meet the following criteria:

  • Broad knowledge of music across multiple genres
  • Strong numeracy and analytical skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Effective written and verbal communication
  • Computer literacy with good typing/data entry speeds
  • The ability to work constructively and collaboratively within teams

Preferred:

  • Basic knowledge of music copyright
  • Experience using online and other research tools
  • Experience working in an office environment
  • Basic proficiency in MS Office products, in particular Outlook, Excel and Word
