After the success of their well-received first effort ‘To You’, Battleships have emerged again with an exciting new release. ‘Take Your Rest’ is the first single from a batch of new material and brings the next development in Battleships’ sound, whilst also exhibiting some of the much admired attributes of their former work. Their newest single is deep and thoughtful, while also still exhibiting that creative and addictive musical nous we’ve come to expect from Battleships.
‘Take Your Rest’ features the haunting vocals, innovative drumbeats and sweeping tones that have become synonymous with Battleships’ work so far. This new track covers themes of longing and sacrifice and is another advance on the music coming from this Sydney-based four-piece.
Battleships have landed the main support on Boy & Bear’s upcoming national tour (which will see them play some fifteen dates with the Australian folk favourites) and have also shared the stage with the likes of The Preatures, Sticky Fingers, The Holidays and The Paper Kites.
They will be backing up this single release with a run of East Coast shows presented by the AU review, Select Music and The A&R Department, as well as a couple of festivals; in the form of Newcastle’s Fat As Butter Festival and the Golden Days Festival on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.

PAUL GREENE & THE OTHER COLOURS
With a focus on making music, not hype, local outfit Paul Greene & The Other Colours continue to improve like a fine wine, and are proud to announce the release of their new single ‘Beautiful Delusion’ through ABC Music/Universal Music Australia. The single is lifted from the band’s forthcoming album, to be released in 2014.
Paul Greene & The Other Colours were showered with glowing reviews and accolades after their 2012 ARIA nominated release ‘Behind The Stars’, for their fearless and sophisticated songwriting, ambitious production and the ability to effortlessly glide between genres. Their unique, understated quality has set them a special place on the musical map.
The single ‘Beautiful Delusion’ cleverly twists lyrics and melodies that sit gently yet starkly upon a minimal groove, and are then nonchalantly embellished with a saccharine orchestral chorus. It is the classy songwriting we have come to expect from Greene, with the evident influences of late 70′s Pop nostalgia (Ie. Gerry Rafferty & The Motels).
It’s not been long since Paul Greene & The Other Colours hung up their saddles from touring their breakthrough album ‘Behind The Stars’, but already The Colours are back on the road with a tantalizing taste of their new album.

In what is known as the latest boom-town, Perth, Western Australia, you will find four (semi) distinguished gentleman have recently formed a hard hitting riff rock band called Vida Cain.
Vida Cain formed in early 2012, “It’s actually my grandmother’s name,” laughs lead vocalist Josh Johnstone. “The funny thing is that she absolutely hated loud music.”
2013 has seen the release of the band’s debut album ‘The Rule of Gravity’, followed by a second national tour.

Melbourne art-pop duo The Twoks are taking the violin & drums on the road in November and December to champion the release of their dark new single, Sailor. Following up from an ambitious instrumental LP Sailing Away released earlier in 2013, Sailor retains the nautical theme but steers the band towards more definitive ‘pop’ waters with the addition of Xani Kolac’s enchanting lead vocals and an infectious chorus hook. The pair have just returned home to Melbourne after three weeks of writing, recording and gig-going in New York City. Properly inspired, they now hit the road eager to share new songs and experiences with audiences across QLD, NSW, VIC and SA .
Onstage The Twoks’ dark, melodic dance music swells and crashes with explosive impact. The grandiose layers of Xani’s violin soaring over Mark Leahy’s propulsive groove lands them somewhere between The Dirty Three and Goldfrapp. It’s a sound that has captured the attention of DARK MOFO (2013), St Kilda Festival (2013), Brunswick Music Festival (2013), Woodford Folk Festival (2012 & 2013), Edinburgh Fringe (2011), Adelaide Fringe (2008-12), and a riotous performance at the recent Wave Rock Festival in WA.
More info can be found here at The Twoks’ EPK.
