AB Original and Dan Sultan

AB Original and Troy Cassar-Daley were among the honourees at Saturday night's National Indigenous Music Awards in Darwin.

APRA AMCOS Song of the Year went to the AB Original duo of Briggs and Trials for their powerful anthem January 26 featuring Dan Sultan. The song's accompanying video was awarded Film Clip of the Year.

Cassar-Daley was awarded the prestigious Artist of the Year and Album of the Year for his LP Things I Carry Around.

In a jam-packed category of ones-to-watch, the New Talent of the Year award went to Adelaide's beguiling electro-pop duo and 2016 Emily Burrows Award recipients Electric Fields, who also performed.

The award for Community Music Clip of the Year went to the Halls Creek Indigenous Hip Hop Project for a video made by community members and guest artists from the Indigenous Hip Hop Project during this year's school Easter school holidays, with a very important message about reducing water consumption in their East Kimberley region.

Paul Kelly, Dan Sultan and AB Original joined forces for their much-loved rendition of Dumb Things. And the evening concluded with a moving tribute to five-time Artist of the Year winner and legendary songwriter Dr G. Yunupingu.
