The Melbourne Sessions is sold-out! Tune in to the livestreams

Thursday, 05 Jul 2018

The Melbourne Sessions, a full-day dedicated to song craft and professional development, is officially a sold-out affair.

On Friday 6 July, 220 emerging and mid-career songwriters and composers will fill up the studio space and practice rooms at Kindred Studios, Yarraville, for a program of masterclasses, workshops and networking opportunities led by industry pros.

Presented by APRA AMCOS and the Victorian Government through Creative Victoria, previously announced special international guest at The Melbourne Sessions is keynote speaker Warryn Campbell, the LA-based Grammy-winning writer/producer/executive who has worked with Kanye West, Alicia Keys, Missy Elliott and more.

Ninety-minute in-depth masterclasses will be led by Melbourne’s own Ben Abraham, legendary screen composer Cezary Skubiszewski, in-demand video game composer Jared Underwood, respected producer/engineer Anna Laverty, modern rock trailblazer Adalita, and Harvey Miller of Client Liaison, who is replacing songwriter Shungudzo.

Livestreams will be happening via APRA AMCOS Facebook page:

  • 9:15am-10:15am Warryn Campbell - in conversation with producer Jan Skubiszewski
  • 10:30am-12pm Music for Film & Television masterclass with Cezary Skubiszewski

Afternoon workshops will give attendees the opportunity to get a hands-on, collaborative experience in small groups. Workshop mentors include APRA Song of The Year-winning writer Chris Cheney of The Living End, rising star Ainslie Wills, singer-songwriter Laura Jean, and newly announced additions Alexander Gow of Oh Mercy, and solo artist Amaya Laucirica.

As part of a dedicated component for screen composers, masterclasses will be helmed by the aforementioned Skubiszewski and Underwood, with screen music workshops from Greg Walker (Machine Translations), Bryony Marks and Miriama Young.

The Melbourne Sessions was created as a high-impact day to foster the creativity and connections of up-and coming songwriters and composers as they make professional inroads into the competitive global music market. The program culminates with a curated performance and ample networking time.
