Aussie songwriters shine in International Song Comp, 55 entries make the finals

Friday, 09 Mar 2018

No surprises here, just plenty of Aussie talent among the finalists of the esteemed International Songwriting Competition. With songwriters from across the globe, both established and just starting out, vying for cash and a haul of music-making prizes, it's heartening to see so many of our members in the mix including the first ever song in an indigenous Australian language from finalist Gawurra (pictured).

Australia has a history of success in this prestigious competition, with Vance  Joy having taken out the grand prize in 2014. Other previous Aussie winners include Gotye, Missy Higgins,  Matt Corby, David Le'aupepe, Kasey Chambers, Flight Facilities, Augie March, Guy Sebastian, Sarah Blasko, Troy Cassar-Daley, Kate Miller-Heidke, Jebediah and many more.

ISC will award more than $150,000 in cash and prizes, including an overall Grand Prize consisting of $25,000 (US) cash, and more. A total of 71 winners will be selected in 23 categories of music. All entrants retain full rights to their songs. Winners to be announced in April.
