The week that was the New York Roadshow

Wednesday, 10 Jul 2019

As things go when it comes to New York City, our week there in June was a whirlwind. Milly Petriella and her US-based International Reps hosted a special member event in Manhattan, the Sounds Australia team presented their flagship AUSSIE BBQ at Central Park’s SummerStage, and then it all wrapped up with four days of serious songwriting at SongHubs in Brooklyn.

Thanks to everyone who joined us! It was great to have members connect with Nashville Rep Mark Moffatt, our new LA/NYC Rep Bella Morris-Clarke, and we said a fond farewell to LA Rep Lani Richmond.

Let’s recap.

New York Roadshow
Thursday 20 June

We spent the afternoon with members who are either living in NYC, or spending time there, and highlighted our membership initiatives and support to overseas members. We also heard from Sounds Australia about the incredible work they are doing and the just-launched Jaxsta platform was introduced by CEO and Co-Founder Jacqui Louez Schoorl. And of course, we wrapped in fitting form with a stunning performance from The Dawn of MAY.

AUSSIE BBQ at Central Park SummerStage
Saturday 22 June

It had been a rainy week and then just in time for a full slate of Aussie acts at Central Park, the skies cleared. An incredible line-up of Australian artists featured at the iconic SummerStage, with HermitudeTkay MaidzaA.B. Original (with special guest appearance by Mojo Juju), WAAXThe Teskey Brothers and San Cisco playing sets to a crowd of over 4,000 that came through the gates.

SongHubs New York
Sunday 23 -26 June

Next stop, Brooklyn. Along with AUSSIE BBQ performers Tkay, Hermitude and San Cisco, a crew of Aussie songwriters and producers, both US-based and from beyond, joined creative forces at Figure 8 Studios. GRAMMY-winning songwriter and producer Franc Tetaz curated four days of intensive songwriting sessions with international guests Damian Taylor and Clams Casino, and we can’t wait to hear some of the results.

You can read a firsthand account of her time at SongHubs by Mojo Juju over at The Music Network
